Brazilian Walnut or Ipe (pronounced eepay) known as Ironwood is the Rolls Royce of hardwood timber, being 8 times harder than Redwood and 3 times harder than Oak it has the same "hardness" rating as iron, hence the name...

This been the case it is the perfect timber to make a truely stunning paddle that will last a life time, there is nothing that will intimidate your sub more, simply feeling the weight of it is enough to put the most stubon in line.

FUN FACT - Ironwood also carries a Class A fire rating which is the same as steel and concrete which is why we don't have the "torched" option. Our blowtorch just won't do it!

Every piece of timber is hand selected for the paddles looking for the most interesting pieces, this combined with the fact every item is hand made by yours truly you can be sure you are getting yourself something special.

As mentioned this timber doesn't torch so we just have the choice of the finish for you, linseed oil heightens the colours in the timber beautifully shown in the photos above as well crystallising under the surface of the wood making it even stronger! Bees wax on the other hand leaves the timber it's natural colour and is far more subtle with the added benefit of an amazing scent!
